Celebrating her son’s first birthday, Shift Creative founder Alexis Andra threw a “You Are Golden” themed party. As this theme demanded a singular color scheme, we designed the event making use of texture and dimension. We made bold use of gold, letter-shaped balloons against an all-white wall.

Below the balloons, after draping the main table in gold, we arranged multi-level serving platters that presented the gold-colored desserts. This allowed the light to play off the reflective gold and create an element of depth through highlights and shadows.

Outside, rather than create a flower wall, we crafted a custom wall dripping with gleaming, gold frills. We framed the wall with sharp golden plants whose leaves extended radially outward, offsetting the vertical frills. The outdoor setting not only allowed light to play along the wall but allowed a gentle wind to manipulate the shapes. With all of these elements interacting, this party radiated gold as Baby Andra celebrated his first lap around the sun.
